Note: An intriguing and rare black-and-white photographic face proof prototype from the Reserve Bank of India, showcasing a unique denomination of 2.5 Rupees (Rupees Two and Annas Eight). This design is believed to date back to the early 1940s, during World War II, a time marked by rising commodity prices and a decline in silver coinage production.Featuring the facsimile signature of J.B. Taylor and the portrait of King George VI, this prototype is adorned with the logo "Specimen CNP (Currency Note Press) India" in watermark window and mounted on cardboard. This design was never adopted for circulation, surviving only as proofs or essay proofs. A similar example fetched an impressive USD 8,400 in an overseas auction in 2023, underscoring its importance and rarity. This exquisite piece, offered by us for the first time, is a remarkable item in Indian banknotes.
