&nbsp;Aurangzeb Alamgir (AH 1068-1118 /1658-1707 AD), Surat Mint (By Style), Gold ¼ Mohur, AH 1110/4X RY,&nbsp;“Mihr Munir” Couplet, Obv: Persian legend “Sikka zad dar jahan chu mihr munir, Shah Aurangzeb Alamgir" with Hijri year 1110, Rev: Persian legend ”sana 4x julus" &amp; “zarb Surat" off flan at the bottom, 2.61g, 18.83mm, (Unlisted in KM), no test marks, ex-mount, attractive, choice quality, XF-AU, Extremely Rare.

Note: Under Mughal rule, Surat developed into one of the empire's most important ports, serving as the principal gateway for pilgrims undertaking the Hajj and as a major centre of trade with the Portuguese, English and other foreign merchants. Large quantities of bullion entered the empire through the city and, in accordance with Mughal regulations, were converted into imperial coinage at the Surat mint.Although Surat is amongst the most commonly encountered mint-names on the coinage of Aurangzeb, gold fractions remain virtually unknown. No public examples appear to have been recorded, rendering the present specimen unique so far. &nbsp;
