Note: The dominance of Pallava in the Southern region was significant during its period. Their coins are generally found in copper and potin metal bearing the Pallava bull on the obverse. This symbol is generally seen in their monuments, particularly on the walls surrounding the shore temple at Mamallapuram. It was Sir Walter Elliot, in 1858, who brought attention to the lead coins and attributed them to the &ldquo;Princes of the Pallava race&rdquo;.
