Note: Aurangnagar is widely identified with Mulher, the former capital of the princely state of Baglana. The ruling family of Baglana, of the Rathor clan, claimed descent from the ancient royal line of Kannauj. In 1638 CE, Raja Bairam Shah surrendered to the Mughals after a prolonged siege. His son later converted to Islam and entered imperial service as a loyal officer under Emperor Aurangzeb. Although Mulher temporarily came under Shivaji’s control, Mughal authority over the region largely persisted. In 1724 CE, following Nizam-ul-Mulk Asaf Jah I’s declaration of independence from Mughal central authority, Baglana came under the governance of officials appointed by the Nizam. Mulher was administered by a commandant acting under his orders. In 1760 CE (AH 1174), the Peshwas launched a military campaign into the region, compelling the Nizam to cede Baglana to the Marathas through a formal treaty. As a result - Coins struck at the treaty. As a result - Coins struck at the Aurangnagar mint between 1724 and 1760 CE are classified as Hyderabad issues under Nizam authority.
