Note: The reign of Farrukhsiyar began in AH 1125 (1713) after the defeat and execution of his uncle Jahandar Shah, largely through the military support of the influential Sayyid Brothers, Abdullah Khan and Husain Ali Khan. Although Farrukhsiyar entered Delhi as a victorious claimant restoring a semblance of imperial authority after a brief succession struggle, his reign was quickly marked by factional politics and distrust within the Mughal court. Important appointments were made during this period, notably Chin Qilich Khan as viceroy in the Deccan and various nobles aligned either with the Turani or Hindustani factions, but Farrukhsiyar increasingly sought to free himself from the dominance of the Sayyids, creating deep instability within the imperial administration. His reign also witnessed continued negotiations and conflicts with Rajput rulers, Sikh resistance under Banda Singh Bahadur, and growing financial strain upon the empire.<o:p></o:p>&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>In AH 1130 (1718), Farrukhsiyar attempted to reassert Mughal authority in the Deccan by dispatching Roshan Akhtar and Chin Qilich Khan to recover strategic forts and restrain Maratha influence, achieving temporary submission in several regions. Yet these gains proved fragile as the Marathas rapidly regained strength through their mobile military networks and expanding revenue claims across the peninsula. Simultaneously, tensions between Farrukhsiyar and the Sayyid Brothers escalated into open confrontation, with the emperor attempting unsuccessfully to remove them from power through court intrigue and secret alliances. This culminated in his deposition in AH 1131 (1719), when the Sayyids entered the imperial palace, blinded and imprisoned the emperor, and shortly thereafter ordered his execution. &nbsp;
