Gupta Dynasty, Samudragupta&nbsp;(335-370 AD), Gold Dinar,&nbsp;Large flan, "King and Queen-Vamardhaparyanka" type&nbsp;(Lichchhavayah),&nbsp;issued in the memory of his parents Chandragupta I and Kumaradevi, Obv:&nbsp;the&nbsp;king, diademed, standing to the right facing, the queen stands in tribhanga pose on the left, the king offering a ring/flower to the queen,&nbsp;both have a halo over&nbsp;their heads,&nbsp;the Brahmi legend&nbsp;"Shri Kumarade(vi)"&nbsp;in the left field behind the queen,&nbsp;"Chandra"&nbsp;and&nbsp;"Gupta"&nbsp;in the right field divided by a crescent standard&nbsp;which is held in the king's left hand,&nbsp;Rev:&nbsp;the&nbsp;goddess Durga seated&nbsp;in the Vamardhaparyanka pose&nbsp;on a recumbent lion facing right, holding a cornucopia and a pasha, a tamgha on the left field, the Brahmi legend&nbsp;"Lichchhavayah"&nbsp;in the&nbsp;right field and a dotted border around the field,&nbsp;7.45g, 22.4mm,&nbsp;(Unlisted in Altekar &amp; TOTGE),&nbsp; very attractive, reverse double struck, choice quality, XF-AU,&nbsp;Extremely&nbsp;Rare.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>

Note:&nbsp;This remarkable issue was struck by Samudragupta in commemoration of his illustrious parents, Chandragupta I and Kumaradevi, celebrating their dynastic union and the prestigious Lichchhavi lineage. One of the most historically significant and iconic coin types of the Gupta series.&nbsp;This specimen features the Goddess Durga seated on a lion in the Vamardhaparyanka Posture.&nbsp;An unlisted combination is seen on the reverse Goddess Durga seated on a lion in the Vamardhaparyanka Posture and without crescent on the obverse. This type is not listed in major numismatic publications including both Altekar &amp; S. Kumar.&nbsp;We haven't&nbsp;offered this type and this quality in the past!&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>
