Note:&nbsp;This quarter rupee remains unlisted in the KM catalogue. The mint name appears as “Macchalipatan,” split across two lines as “Macchali” (upper) and “Patan” (lower, partially off flan), a feature rarely seen on fractional issues. Fractional silver coins from this mint are extremely rare, especially with legible mint inscriptions.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>Machilipatnam (Masulipatnam), a major Coromandel Coast trading port influenced by European powers, including the Dutch, French, and British, was a key commercial and strategic center. The French established a trading factory here in 1669 under license from the Golconda Sultanate.<o:p></o:p><o:p></o:p>
