Note:&nbsp;Coins of Azam Shah were struck during his brief claim to the Mughal throne following his assumption of kingship at Ahmadnagar on 14 March 1707 AD, just days after the death of his father, Aurangzeb. Prior to this, he had been active in the Berar, Gujarat, and Malwa provinces, and mints from these regions issued his coinage during this short-lived reign. His rule and coinage came to an end with his defeat and death at the Battle of Jajau on 8 June 1707, at the hands of his stepbrother Muazzam (later Bahadur Shah I).<o:p></o:p>The present specimen is of exceptional quality and is among the finest known for this ruler. It is particularly noteworthy for retaining a complete mint name, a rare feature in this series, and is further enhanced by its superb state of preservation.
