Note: Top Pop, Highest graded known for the type.<o:p></o:p>Qunduz is in Northern Afghanistan, less than 50 miles south of the Oxus River. Around AH 907 (AD 1501–02), Qunduz, along with Hissar and Termez, was under the control of Khusru Shah, a Kipchak Noble and Governor appointed by the Timurid ruler Mahmud Mirza.<o:p></o:p>Around AD 1504, Zahir ud-din Muhammad, later known as Babur, entered the territory of Karateghin after being ousted from Ferghana by the advancing Uzbeks. Khusru Shah opposed Babur’s entry, but his tyrannical rule had made the local population favor Babur. Many of Khusru’s soldiers deserted to Babur, who established a stronghold in the foothills of the Hindu Kush. Unable to resist effectively, Khusru Shah surrendered to Babur &amp; allowed him to take control of Qunduz. Khusru Shah was permitted to depart for Khorasan with much of his wealth.<o:p></o:p>Babur then consolidated his position in Qunduz, but facing the advancing Shaybanid Uzbeks, he turned south towards Kabul, which he subsequently conquered before beginning his invasion of India. Very Rare Humayun Kabul Mint Silver Shahrukhi Coin.

Note:&nbsp;Humayun, after being ousted by Sher Shah Suri of the Delhi Sultanate, sought refuge at the Persian Shah's court in 950 AH (1543 AD). During his two-year exile, he sought Shah Tahmasp's support to reclaim his throne in India. In exchange for assistance, Humayun agreed to convert to the Shia sect of Islam and promised to cede Qandahar upon its conquest.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>Upon the successful capture of Qandahar, tensions arose with the Persian garrison, leading Humayun to personally lead the expulsion of the Persians. Despite potential friction with Shah Tahmasp, Humayun appointed Behram Khan, a Shia general and future mentor to Akbar, as Governor of Qandahar. Diplomatic ambassadors were dispatched to reassure Shah Tahmasp of Behram Khan's loyalty, after dismissing the Shah's envoy, Bidagh Khan, for disobedience.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>To strengthen the alliance, Humayun minted coins in Shah Tahmasp's name with Shia inscriptions. These coins, likely minted shortly after Qandahar's recapture in 1545 AD, were timed to coincide with the arrival of Humayun's envoys and letters to the Shah's court, anticipating the Shah's positive response.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>The issuance of these coins served as a strategic diplomatic move by Humayun to secure Persian support in his quest to reclaim his Indian territories.&nbsp;A similar specimen in inferior quality was sold in our Auction No. 45 for Rs. 5,60,000. They are highly sought after and greatly admired by Mughal numismatists and collectors alike.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p><o:p></o:p><o:p></o:p>

 Exceedingly Rare Humayun in Exile Qandahar Mint Silver Shahrukhi Jointly issued with the name of Tahmasp I Safavid of Iran Coin. 

Note: Dated AH 962 during Humayun's second reign, this coin likely commemorates his entry into Lahore on 2nd Rabi in AH 962 (24th February 1555 AD). The Khutba was read in his name on the same day, indicating a probable issuance of this coin.
