These coins were minted from just two mints—Daulatabad and Sultanpur—with the Daulatabad issues bearing mint epithets such as Dar al-Mulk (Capital City) & The Hadrat (The Presence). This particular specimen is dated AH 729 and bears the combined mint epithet Dar al-Mulk Daulatabad, a previously unrecorded date for this type. This date is unlisted in the Goron & Goenka catalog. Its historical significance is further elevated by the fact that Daulatabad (formerly Deogir) had by then become the Sultan's capital and a strategic entry point into the Deccan, reflecting Muhammad bin Tughluq’s bold administrative reforms.
