Note: Haidarnagar was the name bestowed upon Bednur (present-day Nagar) in Karnataka after its conquest by Haidar Ali in 1763 AD. The capture of the wealthy Keladi Nayaka capital proved to be a turning point in the rise of Mysore, providing Haidar Ali with immense resources that enabled the rapid expansion and consolidation of his power. The city thereafter became an important military and administrative centre of the Mysore State and served as one of the principal mints of Haidar Ali and later Tipu Sultan.<o:p></o:p>
