Note: This coin belongs to the Chhatra-type, an innovation of Chandragupta II, likely intended to emphasize his imperial authority as the sole sovereign (eka-chhatratva) of the realm. This specimen likely appears for the first time in an Indian auction and is struck from re-engraved dies, a highly unusual anomaly. Interestingly, the reverse legend is re-engraved and misspelled as “Vikrakramadityah” instead of the standard “Vikramadityah,” making it a fascinating and unique example of Gupta numismatic history.
