Note: This banknote of 25 Company Rupees denomination—distinct from the more commonly seen Sicca Rupees—signifying its origin during the transition period of early Indian banking. Issued by the Bank of Bengal, this note is a complete and intact example, unlike the common practice of cutting notes into halves for redemption. Instead, the signature area was deliberately cut by the bank to mark it as cancelled after payment, a rare surviving example of such a procedure. This piece stands out as one of the rarest known examples of early Indian banknotes from this pivotal period.
