Note: The Mewar Bheel Corps&nbsp;was established 1841 by Maharana Sardar Singhji under the command of Captain W. Hunter, with its headquarters in Kherwara, to provide employment to the ‘Bhil’ tribes.&nbsp;Its primary function was to maintain internal security in Mewar State by patrolling the hilly tracts and providing guards for residences at&nbsp;Mount Abu and Udaipur.&nbsp;Its initial strength was 4 companies, which was increased to 10 companies in 1844.&nbsp;In 1857, the Corps was used to patrol the passes leading out of Kherwara. After Independence, the Corps was transferred to the Rajasthan Police, where the unit still exists.&nbsp;Around 300 men of the&nbsp;Mewar Bheel Corps&nbsp;were entitled to the Indian Mutiny medal&nbsp;and this is the only known Mutiny medal to the unit.<o:p></o:p>
