&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Note: After the surrender of Sikandar Adil Shah of Bijapur on 13 September 1686, the fortress of&nbsp;Adoni remained under the control of Sidi Mas'ud, a powerful Habshi regent of the Adil Shahi Sultanate.&nbsp;He resisted Mughal forces for nearly two years, before finally surrendering in&nbsp;August 1688 to Aurangzeb. Following this victory,&nbsp;Adoni was renamed 'Imtiyazgarh' (Fort of Distinction)&nbsp;to mark its strategic and symbolic importance.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; During the siege,&nbsp;important coins were issued—either by the Mughal camp or by Sidi Mas'ud in recognition of Mughal suzerainty. These coins show&nbsp;a Rare transition of mint names, starting from&nbsp;Dār al-Ẓafar Qilʿa Adoni, then&nbsp;Adoni, and finally&nbsp;Imtiyazgarh. The epithet&nbsp;“Dār al-Ẓafar” (Abode of Victory), once used for Bijapur, was also applied to Adoni.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The later name,&nbsp;Imtiyāzgarh—possibly from the Arabic&nbsp;Imtiyāz&nbsp;(meaning&nbsp;honour&nbsp;or&nbsp;distinction)—suggests a deliberate Mughal effort to reframe the fort’s identity as a&nbsp;‘Fortress of Honour’ or ‘Citadel of Pride’&nbsp;within their imperial narrative.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p><o:p></o:p>
