Note: A beautiful rare black-and-white photographic face proof prototype of a 100 Rupees note from the Reserve Bank of India. This proposed design, likely conceptualized in 1944, was intended to counter Japanese counterfeiting of Indian currency during World War II.This Photographic face proof features the facsimile signature of Governor C.D. Deshmukh and a portrait of King George VI, along with the promissory text that completes its elegant design. Mounted on cardboard, this design was never adopted for circulation and exists solely in the form of proofs or essay proofs. A similar example achieved USD 5,500 at an overseas auction in 2023, emphasizing its rarity and historical significance. Offered by us for the first time.
