Note:Emperor Jahangir's multifaceted interests extended to the realm of fishing, a pastime he frequently mentioned in his memoirs, the ‘Tuzuk-i-Jahangiri’. He not only enjoyed the sport but also relished fish in his diet, with a particular fondness for Rohu, a type of carp. Such was his affection for this delicacy that, after months of being deprived of it, he rewarded the person who brought him Rohu with a horse—a testament to his appreciation. This extraordinary Burhanpur Gold Mohur bears the rare and unlisted fish mint mark, an intriguing detail absent from the KM catalogue. The coin is adorned with a poetic couplet, of which only a few known specimens exist in gold. Its rarity and historical significance make it a masterpiece of Jahangir’s coinage, seldom seen at auctions and highly sought-after by collectors.
