Shortly after, Jānī was replaced by Malik Saif al-Din Aibak, who governed until his death in AD 1233 (AH 631). Malik Tughril Tughān Khan then assumed control, serving as governor for a decade. Coins from this period display fascinating details. They reference Caliph al-Mustansir after the Shahada on the reverse. Coins where Iltutmish is titled al-sultan al-mu'azzam include the phrase al-mustansir bi-amr Allah, while those with al-sultan al-a'zam use al-mustansir billah. Some coins feature arabesques on the obverse, while others have inscriptions, but most omit mint names on the margins. A distinctive arabesque arch adorns the top of the reverse.
