Note: Errors in British India banknotes are extremely rare, with very few known examples in existence. This particular 5 Rupees issue, intended for "Military Administration in Burma," features a striking error: the overprint is misaligned, causing the overprint text to merge with the standard text. Such a unique and intriguing error is being handled by us for the first time and is now presented as a highlight in our auction. This note also features inscriptions suggesting some form of arrival or departure, though the exact context remains uncertain. The text reads: "DEPT. FARAKHA TO USA JAN 1945" and "ARR KARACHI FEB 23 1945." These markings may offer clues to its history or journey, but their exact significance remains unclear.
