Egypt collided with a cargo steamer in thick fog off the northwest coast of France in May 1922, sinking to a depth of 400 feet. The ship's cargo included gold valued at one million pounds. A group of salvagers formed the 'SORIMA' Salvage Company and hired the cargo ship 'Artiglio' with the mission to recover the gold from the S.S. Egypt. In June 1932, they successfully salvaged the gold along with unsigned Hyderabad banknotes in denominations of 5, 10, and 100. Of the 165,000 notes, the Nizam of Hyderabad, after lengthy negotiations through his advocates with SORIMA, repurchased 128,000 notes in July 1939. These notes were subsequently burnt in London. The remaining notes, printed by Waterlow &amp; Sons, are either held by collectors or lost at sea.<o:p></o:p>
