This specimen, dated 963 AH and minted in Delhi, is a rare example. It features a complete mint-name visible to the left of the rectangular cartouche on its reverse. Humayun's authority during this period was primarily limited to Delhi, Agra, and parts of Punjab, with Mughal control remaining tenuous until Akbar and his army consolidated power in subsequent years. Narnol, situated approximately 75 miles southwest of Delhi, held significant strategic importance during this era.<o:p></o:p>The year 963 AH commenced on November 16, 1555. Humayun tragically fell to his death on January 27, 1556, while descending the stairs of his library with a stack of books, responding to the call to prayer. His passing occurred just three days later, indicating that this coin was likely minted during the final 75 days of his life.
