Mysore Kingdom, Tipu Sultan (AH 1197-1213 /AM 1215-1227 /1787-1799 AD), Patan (Seringpatan) Mint, Silver Rupee (Imami), Edge: Oblique milling, Fields without rosettes, AM 1219 /9 RY (1790), Mauludi Era, Saal Zabarjad, Obv: Persian legend "deen-e-Ahmad Muhammad dar Jahan Roshan ze Fatah Haidar ast, Imami, Zarb Patan, saal Zabarjad, Sana 1219 AM" with the initial letter 'Ha' in the center, Rev: Arabic legend "huwas sultan al Waheed al Adil, Tarikh julus, saal sakh, suwem Bahari" & "Sana 9 julusi", 11.34g, 25.86mm, (KM # 126), partial toothed border, sharply struck, attractive lustre, AU-UNC, Extremely Rare.

Note: Similar to coins of France and other European countries, Tipu rupees are always struck with coarse milling and have a distinctive pattern. It is possible that Tipu's French workers originated this distinctive milling style. Tipu experimented with oblique milling in the later part of 1219ME (1791 AD), which was copied from the Madras presidency. In comparison with coarse milling, it was likely chosen due to its ease of production and lower cost. In 1220ME, however, the old method of coarse milling was revived. This rupee from the Tipu series is aesthetically pleasing and missing from many collections.

The Oblique Milling Rupee was only struck for one year.
