Full Description: Pre-Stamp Cover (Wrapper), 1841, Steamer Letter, Calcutta to London, endorsed on top “By Inland Pership via Marseilles”, It is addressed to the Secretary, India House, London. Dispatched from Calcutta having a dispatch postmark in Red ink in a four-line compartment that reads as “CALCUTTA | STEAM LETTER | 1841 May 12 | Paid 2-14”, type S21 of Giles. Another seal in Red ink is applied on arrival that reads “INDIA”, cachet in rectangle, type CX8 of Giles, a delivery mark of round shape in Red ink of “H | 2 JY 2 | 1841” is also on the cover, An extremely unusual label of “EXAMINER’s OFFICE” having Coat-of-Arms is affixed on the cover, this occurrence is rare, good condition, Extremely Rare. The manuscript content is interesting that reads as: Mr. Charles Hogg Explaining the causes which led to his resignation of the office of the Company’s Solicitor in Madras. Cons.
