Note: The rupee seems to be struck on a Suri undertype as evident from the traces below. Copper coins of Akbar are well&nbsp;known to have been struck on Suri host. It seems that there must have been shortage of metal at Agra mint in the year 47&nbsp;and 48 when the need for using Suri rupees arose. To accommodate the large flans of the Suri rupees, an equally large die&nbsp;of the Akbar&rsquo;s design was specially engraved. The two rupees offered here are a testimony to such an event at the royal&nbsp;mint of Agra, thus the very large flan or nazarana Rupees of Akbar came into existence.
