Following this, they obliged the Nawab to grant them the right to establish a mint and they began to strike coins, at first showing the mint name Alinagar Calcutta, Alinagar being the name given to the town by the Nawab.

Later in the year, following the battle of Plassey the new Nawab gave permission to strike the coins with the mint name Calcutta, in July 28th, 1757 AD. Coins with this mint name were struck in the Regional Years 4, 5, and 6 in the name of Alamgir II.
