Note: This is an incredibly popular large-size note which has been designed for terrific eye appeal. This specimen features an ornamental Chinese vessel on the lower left of the obverse and on the reverse a portrait of Governor Joseph Francois Dupleix can be seen at the center with a profile of a Greek goddess in lower right within a circle. This image of this goddess also appears on ancient Greek coins from Syracuse. In the watermark, the profile of a Chinese farmer facing left is visible.

The banknotes of French India were short-lived making their top-grade examples highly sought after. This bold specimen has its embossing, deep colour pallete and intricately detailed borers all intact as from the time of issue. &quot;SPECIMEN&quot; in perforations is printed vertically on the watermark area.
