coins with this form of circular tamgha in the Numismatic Circular (#173, 2013, pp.177-8), suggested that they may be issues of Chandragupta III. Their apparent gold purity, heavier weight and the fact that only a few coins with this symbol are known from the time of Kumaragupta, suggest that this might be a tamgha that was first used late in the reign of Kumaragupta and continued into the time of Chandragupta III. He concluded that it was too early to draw firm conclusions, and it may be the fact that this tamgha was used sporadically in all three reigns.
