Note: The Two Fishes, known as "the Meena lanchhana," served as the dynastic emblem of the Alupas or Alvas, who governed the present-day Mangalore and Udupi districts in Karnataka, as well as the Kasaragod district in Kerala, for nearly 1000 years. Initially, they ruled the Alvakheda region independently from around 200 BC to 450 CE.
