Jahangir himself mentions in his autobiography the sums of money he scattered during processions in cities like Ahmadabad; however, many Nisars originate from places the emperor never visited, suggesting the ritual was often conducted by high-ranking officials or members of the court. The presence of the Kalima indicates that these pieces were struck for religious presentation, likely intended for distribution under Islamic institutions or at mosques, rather than for general scattering.

These coins were typically struck in very low denominations, designed to last over the duration of the ritual or procession. Consequently, such low-denomination Nisars are extremely rare, as their survival through circulation was limited.
