Note: This is one of the rarest 5 Rupees SPECIMEN banknote from the early post-independence period of Indian paper currency, issued just six years after India’s independence in 1953. It is particularly notable for the error in the language panel, where the Nagari inscription appears incorrectly as “Paanch Rupaya” in the singular form instead of the correct plural usage. This error was subsequently identified and corrected in later issues, making the present specimen an important and early variety in the evolution of independent India’s currency.
