Note:&nbsp;Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire was a British order of chivalry established by Queen Victoria on 1 January 1878, recognizing distinguished service by British and Indian officials in India.<o:p></o:p>Initially comprising a single class, Companion (CIE), the Order was expanded on 15 February 1887 to include Knight Commander (KCIE). On 21 June 1887, it was reorganised into three classes: Knight Grand Commander (GCIE), Knight Commander (KCIE) and Companion (CIE).<o:p></o:p>No further appointments were made after 1947, following the independence of India and Pakistan. The Order formally became dormant in 2010, following the death of its last surviving member, Maharaja Meghrajji III of Dhrangadhra.<o:p></o:p>
