Note: A remarkably rare and distinguished Gold Mohur of the Bhangi Misl, struck at Amritsar under Ghulab Singh Bhangi, dated VS 1843 and bearing the small Guru Nanak Era 31x numerals. The gold issue is believed to have been struck not for circulation, but as a special Nazarana or presentation piece, possibly intended for presentation to a senior official or a member of the ruling family. Struck from the dies of the corresponding silver rupee, the issue appears to have been produced in an exceptionally small quantity. Its prestigious character is further suggested by the survival of examples with jewellery mounts, indicating that such pieces may have been incorporated into ornaments. An exceedingly rare and historically important Bhangi Misl gold issue, representing the intersection of Sikh sovereignty and the refined tradition of Nazarana coinage for ceremonial purposes.
