Note:&nbsp;Shams ud-Din Muzaffar Shah was the last ruler of the Habshi phase of the Bengal Sultanate, ruling from 1491 to 1493 AD. His accession marked the final stage of Habshi power in Bengal, a period already weakened by rapid successions and court factionalism following earlier Habshi rulers.<o:p></o:p>During his brief reign, he attempted to strengthen central authority from the capital at Gaur. However, his rule soon faced growing internal unrest, opposition from influential nobles, and increasing political instability, which weakened his control over the administration and army.<o:p></o:p>In 1493 AD, he was overthrown by Alauddin Husain Shah, marking the end of Habshi rule in Bengal and the beginning of the Husain Shahi dynasty.<o:p></o:p>This remarkable tanka of Shams ud-Din Muzaffar Shah is preserved in choice quality, featuring beautifully executed large scalloped ornamental borders on both obverse and reverse. Struck with exceptional precision, the coin displays vibrant mint lustre, a sharp and well-centred strike, and outstanding overall eye appeal.
