Previously recorded ship types, including Krishnamurthy’s example, show only a single mast. The two-masted design strongly suggests an ocean-going vessel, highlighting the Pallavas’ participation in maritime commerce across the Bay of Bengal and their connections with regions extending to Southeast Asia and the South China Sea.
