Hyderabad Feudatory, Amarchinta Mint, Silver Rupee,&nbsp;In the name of Alamgir II, Obv: Persian legend “sikka&nbsp;mubarak saheb-e-qiran sani Badshah Ghazi Alamgir”, Rev: Persian legend "sana julus” &amp; “zarb&nbsp;Amarchinta”&nbsp;almost completely visible at the bottom, 11.09g, 19.90mm (Ref JONS Article # 210),&nbsp;no test mark or shroff marks, sharp strike, patina, XF-AU, Exceedingly Rare.&nbsp;

Note: The political instability that followed the succession disputes within the dominions of the Nizams of Hyderabad during the mid-1750s enabled several minor jagirdars and feudatory chiefs to establish local mints and strike coins under the nominal authority of the Hyderabad State. Most of these issues were produced during the reigns of the Mughal Emperor Alamgir II and Nizam Salabat Jang, commonly bearing the date AH 1169 (1755–56 AD). Known issuers of this period include Amarchinta, Gurmitkal, and Papanpet, while coins bearing the mint names Koilkonda, Makhtal, and Charikonda are also known. These emissions are exceedingly rare and remain among the least studied series of Deccan numismatics.<o:p></o:p>Amarchinta (formerly Atmakur), situated in present-day Wanaparthy District of Telangana, was the seat of the Amarchinta Samasthan, a tributary estate of the erstwhile Hyderabad State. Comprising 69 villages with Atmakur as its administrative headquarters, the estate lay adjacent to Gadwal and was separated from it by the Krishna River. Amarchinta was the center of textile production, renowned for their fine muslins and textiles adorned with silk and gold borders. Covering approximately 190 square miles, the estate generated an annual revenue of about Rs. 140,000. According to records cited by Benjamin B. Cohen in his book ‘Kingship and Colonialism in India's Deccan, 1850–1948’, the Raja paid an annual tribute of Rs. 6,363 to the Nizam of Hyderabad, making Amarchinta one of the smallest feudatory estates in terms of tribute obligations. By the Census of 1901, Atmakur had a population of 2,330, while the total population of the Samasthan stood at 34,147.<o:p></o:p>Among the fourteen principal Hindu Samasthans of Hyderabad, only a handful are known to have issued coinage. While Gadwal and Narayanpet struck coins in the name of the Mughal Emperor Muhammad Shah and his successors, the coinage of Amarchinta is of particular importance owing to its rarity and its association with one of the lesser-known feudatory states of the Deccan.<o:p></o:p>This is most likely only the second specimen known from this mint, making it a coin of exceptional importance in the numismatics of the Deccan and Hyderabad State.
