Malwa Sultanate, Silver 1/8 Tanka,&nbsp;coin struck in the name of Ibrahim Shah Lodi (Delhi Sultan), Obv:&nbsp;Arabic legend “Ibrahim Shah Lodi bin Sikandar Shah”,&nbsp;Rev:&nbsp;Arabic legend&nbsp;“al-kibriya lillah”, (Unlisted in G&amp;G), nice quality, original patina, graded&nbsp;&amp; slabbed by&nbsp;NGS as MS 61, Extremely Rare. <o:p></o:p><o:p></o:p>

Note: The fortress of Chanderi came under the control of Sikandar Lodi in AH 921 (1515 AD) during the civil war in Malwa between Mahmud II and his brother Muhammad II. Following Muhammad’s death, his heir Ahmad governed Chanderi under Lodi suzerainty. After Sikandar’s death in AH 923 (1517 AD), Ahmad’s loyalty to Delhi weakened, prompting Ibrahim Lodi to send Shaikhzada Manhju to recover the fortress. Upon its successful capture, Miyan Husain Farmuli was appointed governor. Subsequently, rare Malwa-style coins bearing the Chanderi mint-mark were struck in the name of Ibrahim Lodi in both silver and copper. These issues are among the rarest and most historically significant coinages of the late Lodi period. This 1/8 Tanka silver coin of Ibrahim Shah Lodi is an unpublished and unlisted denomination, not recorded in either the standard reference on Sultanate coinage by Goron and Goenka, or in the works of Dr Rajgor.
