Pre-Stamp Cover, Ship Letter, 8 Annas, 1860, Bombay to Marib, dispatched from Bombay with Black four-lined rectangle seal as &ldquo;BOMBAY | SHIP COVER | 18 (60?) | Bearing 8 As.&rdquo;, value is hand endorsed outside the seal in Red ink mss &lsquo;8As.&rsquo; denotes 8 Annas. Sender&rsquo;s and receiver&rsquo;s addresses are in Arabic, Black circular seal on the back side citing &ldquo;BOMBAY | ? 1 FE | 1860&rdquo;. Hijri Year 1276 mss in Arabic, two wax seals of red color&nbsp;are applied to secure the gluing of the cover (probably it was insured), very good condition, Rare.

Note: According to its historical significance, Marib was a relatively small and insignificant town. In this period, Yemen, including the region around Marib, was under the control of the Ottoman Empire.

Pre-Stamp Cover,&nbsp;2 Annas,&nbsp;1816/1826?,&nbsp;Delhie, letter in Gujarati/Modi language, with a three-compartment rectangular seal, where 2nd compartment is open, this Red ink dispatch postmark cites &ldquo;DELHIE | 10 SEPTEMBER | Bearing 2 As.&rdquo;, value is hand endorsed. Another interesting fact to note is that the date has been struck off and made either 16 or 6, Giles # Type 4, but in Red ink, some usual torn, otherwise good condition, Very Rare.

Note: Cover address and content in Gujarati, letter describes a brief detail on business transactions related to bullocks.

Pre-Stamp Cover, Paid Cover, 12 Annas, 1839, Madras to Calcutta, endorsed &lsquo;Paid&rsquo; (handwritten), Dispatched from MADRAS having a three-line Red rectangular seal that reads as &ldquo;MADRAS | 1839 October 19 | PAID 12As&rdquo;, value hand endorsed, addressed to &lsquo;THOMSON RICHARDS ESQ | KIND CARE D. HUFFNAGLE | MESSRS ADAM GIER SMITH &amp; Co. | CALCUTTA&rsquo;, the letter arrived at the destination Calcutta and bears a delivery stamp in Red ink as &quot;G.P.O | 1839 Oct 30&quot; and a small Red square seal &ldquo;PM&rdquo;, Renouf # type 80, Giles # Types 19 &amp; G.14, excellent condition, Rare.

DLO Cover, Registered Post, 1950, emanated from Bulawayo in Southern Rhodesia, addressed to A. Siruvayal P.O. via Kallal, Ramnad district, South India, tied up with 3 stamps of George VI valued with 6 pence. Dispatched by registered post from BULAWAYO registration no. 9318 as seen on the label.

A total of 8 postmarks/seals are visible, postmark of RANMANAI-SIRUVAYAL RAMNAD with the date in the center visible in two places, the cover reached Siruvayal on the 1st August 1950. D.L.O. Madras cancellation in a square box of 3 Aug 50 at two places. IPOH cancellation of 21 Aug 50 in the round circle. Additionally, an extra paper-note affixed on the cover with the seal of &ldquo;DEAD LETTER OFFICE MADRAS&rdquo; and &ldquo;RE-EXPEIDE&rdquo; with the instruction of redirected to &ldquo;IPOH&rdquo; (via) Madras in Red ink, excellent condition, Very Rare.&nbsp; 

Note: IPOH is situated in the Perak of Malaysia, probably it was redirected from Madras to Malaysia as many traders from the state of Tamilnadu were having businesses in Malaya.

Pre-Stamp Cover, Folded Letter, 12 Annas, 1838, Calcutta&nbsp;to Saugor, Dispatch postmark of the rectangular box in Red ink &ldquo;CALCUTTA | 1838 October 20 | Paid 12 As.&rdquo;, value hand endorsed, addressed to &ldquo;Major&rsquo; Genl. Sir Thomas Anbury Bart | Saugor&rdquo;.&nbsp; It is a variant of Giles # Type 21, with an open middle segment on the right side, which is unrecorded by Giles, very good condition, Rare.

Note: Currently known as &#39;Sagar Island&#39;, Saugor lies on the continental shelf of the Bay of Bengal, lying in the Ganges and Brahmaputra deltas. It is the largest island in the Ganges delta, occupying about 300 square kilometers in the Kakdwip subdivision of the south 24 Parganas district. The city of Ganga Sagar is of religious significance, as it hosts the Ganga Sagar Mela (the second largest gathering of Hindus after the Kumbh Mela) during the Makar Sankranti festival. A popular pilgrimage site on the island is the Kapil Muni temple.

Historically, it served as a mail off-loading depot for incoming ships bound for Calcutta and was devastated by a cyclone in 1864.

Rectangular seal &ldquo;POSTAGE DUE | ONE ANNA&rdquo; on front side, the Urdu/Persian manuscript is about the information of greetings &amp; gifts to Kafila (team),&nbsp;Multiple seals at the back, cancellation of &ldquo;BENARES | T | MA 27 | 95&rdquo; is applied during the time of its dispatch, &ldquo;T&rdquo; is an abbreviation for Tax,&nbsp;This cover would have taken the route via Jeypore, hence the JEYPORE cancellation with date is noted at two places, then finally delivered at its destination to Tonk and postmark of TONK with date was applied, good condition, Rare.

Three different postmarks are visible on the back of the cover, a three-line postmark in a rectangular box in Red ink that reads &ldquo;G.P.O. | 1841 JUL.12&rdquo;, a&nbsp;postmark of A.M. in Black ink square, which denotes that the letter was delivered in the first half of the day, and lastly an un-deciphered three-line postmark in Red ink box, exhibit cover, excellent condition, Very Rare.
