Between 1870 and 1892 Austria produced two different coin types, each of which carried face values in two different monetary systems, this is because these coins were "trade coinage" intended for international use as bullion coins.20 Francs 8 Florins These were issued between 1870 and 1891, but with official re-strikes dated 1892 being issued indefinitely. All the pre 1892 issues tend therefore to be of more interest to collectors, although there is nothing wrong with finding space for the 1892 re-strikes in any collection.

In the two chapters on the currency system of south India, Chattopadhyaya has not only drawn upon numismatic material but also on a variety of other sources, including epigraphy and literary. He has discussed the significance of various coin series including the Roman and the Chinese, which have been found from a number of sites in south India, and has discussed their significance in the context of currency system. An added feature of this work is the discussion focusing on the problem of adjustment of exchange value between different types of coins in circulation.&nbsp;
