Note: Currently known as &#39;Sagar Island&#39;, Saugor lies on the continental shelf of the Bay of Bengal, lying in the Ganges and Brahmaputra deltas. It is the largest island in the Ganges delta, occupying about 300 square kilometers in the Kakdwip subdivision of the south 24 Parganas district.
