Around AH 907 (AD 1501–02), Qunduz, along with Hissar and Termez, was under the control of Khusru Shah, a Kipchak Noble and Governor appointed by the Timurid ruler Mahmud Mirza.<o:p></o:p>Around AD 1504, Zahir ud-din Muhammad, later known as Babur, entered the territory of Karateghin after being ousted from Ferghana by the advancing Uzbeks.
