Note: Following his defeat and expulsion by Sher Shah Suri, Mughal Emperor Humayun sought refuge at the court of Persian Shah Tahmasp I in AH 950 (1543 AD). During his two-year exile, Humayun negotiated military support in exchange for his conversion to Shi’ism and a promise to cede Qandahar after its conquest.Upon reclaiming Qandahar in 1545 AD, tensions with the Persian garrison led to Humayun’s direct intervention and the appointment of his trusted Shia general, Behram Khan, as Governor of the city. In an effort to maintain diplomatic ties and allay any suspicions at the Persian court, Humayun issued coins in Shah Tahmasp's name, featuring Shia inscriptions—an unprecedented gesture in Indo-Persian relations. This Half Shahrukhi, struck at Qandahar, is a testimony of this rare and strategic joint issue—symbolizing both gratitude and allegiance to the Safavid Shah, while securing continued support in Humayun’s effort to reclaim his Indian empire. These coins were likely struck just prior to the dispatch of Humayun’s envoys and letters to the Safavid court, reinforcing his loyalty.Only a few known examples of these Half Shahrukhis survive today in museum and private collections. They are rarer than the full Shahrukhi denomination, making this piece a numismatic treasure of the highest historical importance. An Exceptional and Extremely Rare Coin of Diplomatic and Historical Significance.&nbsp;&nbsp;<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;box-sizing:border-box;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:serif, &quot;Noto Serif Tangut&quot;, &quot;Tangut Yinchuan&quot;;font-size:15px;font-style:normal;font-variant-caps:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:normal;orphans:2;padding:4px;text-align:left;text-decoration-color:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;white-space:normal;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;">&nbsp;</div>
